County Matters - February 2019

A small group of County Councillors including myself recently went down to Warrington to inspect the North West regional Fire Service call centre. This centre takes all emergency 999 calls from four forces in the North West including Cumbria.

Kendal Post Office consultation

Commenting on the consultation which has now opened into the proposed relocation of Kendal Post Office, councillor James Airey said: “The proposal to close Kendal Post Office and re-locate it in the town’s WH Smith store has united the community and politicians of all parties in opposition.

A new approach for a New Year

The last twelve months saw our nation’s economy continue to grow, unemployment at a 43-year low, the number of young people out of work half what it was in 2010 and wages rising at their fastest pace in nearly 10 years.
