I’m Taylor Hulme, born and raised in Kendal. The South Lakes has always been home to me, it’s where I went to school, began my career, and where I now run two local businesses. I’m proud to call this part of Cumbria my home and passionate about giving back to the community that shaped me, supporting its growth and prosperity.
In 2024, I started Hulme Cleaning Services, a reliable commercial cleaning company based in Kendal, providing high quality services to sites all across South Cumbria. Our company has grown at an amazing pace thanks to the trust and reputation we’ve built with our clients, and I take great pride in employing and developing alongside local people and maintaining strong relationships with other South Cumbrian organisations.
Alongside that, I co-own Maddock Cleaning Supplies, a business supplying British-made cleaning products to Cumbrian businesses. We’re committed to supporting UK manufacturing, promoting sustainable solutions, and helping local firms reduce their costs whilst strengthening our regional economy.
I joined the Westmorland and Lonsdale Conservative Association because I believe strongly in the values of hard work paying off, personal responsibility, and free enterprise. Running my own businesses has shown me how vital it is for local and national government to create conditions that allow people to succeed through effort and initiative. Our associations focus on supporting small businesses, encouraging self-reliance, and strengthening our local economy aligns with what I stand for personally and professionally.
As someone who has lived here for most of my life, I hear what people are saying and I understand the everyday issues that we deal with. I care about Cumbrian businesses creating stable jobs and great working environments, saving our Highstreet, solving our traffic crisis and most of all promoting straightforward solutions to those every-day issues that bother us all.
I believe that it is essential for the council to spend our taxpayer money with common sense, focusing on what matters to us and overall to restore their competence within the local community.
I’m keen to play an active role in the Association and to bring the perspective of a Kendal born, working business owner who understands both the challenges and opportunities facing the people living here. My goal is to see Westmorland and Furness thrive, with a strong economy, vibrant communities, and opportunities for future generations to live, work, and succeed locally.
