Cllr. Janette Jenkinson was first elected to South Lakeland District Council in 1991 and she represents Ulverston West Ward.  During her time on the District Council she has been the Chairman of Council 2004/5 and Chairman of the Planning Committee. At present she is Shadow Portfolio Holder for the Environment and People. Throughout this period she has sat on many Committees, Sub-Committees, Task and Finish Groups and Outside Bodies. Janette’s interests lie in the Economy and the Health and Well-Being of residents. She has always said being a councillor is a huge commitment, for you are not only forming and scrutinising policy but also helping constituents with issues that concern and affect them. She enjoys being a Councillor and would recommend it to anyone interested in their Community. She is also an Ulverston Town Councillor for Ulverston West Ward and has been Mayor of Ulverston twice. Her hobbies outside Council work are gardening and historical buildings.
