Councillor James Airey, the Conservative Parliamentary candidate for Westmorland and Lonsdale, has welcomed news that children and young people in South Lakeland are to benefit from additional mental health support.
A leading South Lakes councillor has written to schools across district, asking teachers to encourage their students to take advantage of a new railcard for 16 and 17 year olds, that is soon to be launched by the Conservative Government.
New trains which start to go into service on the Oxenholme to Windermere and Barrow to Lancaster lines on Monday (1 July) have been welcomed by local councillor James Airey, the Conservative’s Parliamentary candidate for Westmorland and Lonsdale.
In March South Lakeland councillor James Airey led a delegation to London to make the case for improvements to the A590.Highways England have now held a public information event near Levens to listen to local people's views.
Councillors who earlier this year took their case for improvements to the A590 to a meeting in London are now encouraging residents and road users to have their say at a local drop-in session which is being held by Highways England on Thursday 27 June.
At a recent meeting of the Grange and Cartmel Wellbeing Group it was decided to put together a Local Wellbeing Directory with all the local groups and organisations in the area with their contact details in one easily accessible document.
