Eric was joined by local Conservative County Council candidates at the new Fell Brewery in Flookburgh along with Jo from the Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding Co. The two young entrepreneurs discussed the good and points of starting a business in the South Lakes along with James Airey, Deputy leader of the Conservative group at the County Council.
Bill Wearing, (Senior local Conservative) said "Too often people forget that there are other valuable businesses in the South Lakes, of course the tourist sector is important to us, but we must continue to do everything we can to support other types of local enterprise. Our young people need to be able to stay in our area with good, high skilled jobs and the Conservative Party strives to do everything possible in order to make our area and our country a great place to do business.
Tom Harvey (Conservative Candidate for Cartmel Division) said "Places like Flookburgh and Allithwaite sometimes get forgotten about, so we brought the Cabinet Minister here to see that we have a diverse set of business in all kinds of places, all of whom need us to get out of the way and let them get on to rebuild our economy."
